Crete, Greece
Bear needed a day off her feet, so I ambled down to the Saturday Market and took a look around …

Market days are fun everywhere, and Chania is no exception.
The city showed off its colours, and its characters.

I arrived at the market at 9:40, Central Pigeon Time

This well-stocked grocer wasn’t thrilled about getting his photo taken, but he cheered up when I bought some apples.
The apples are perfect, for their imperfections.

I never bothered to ask what the difference is between a €8.50 snail and a €7.50 snail. Colour? Size? Speed?
I encountered some hazards on the way to the market…
Fence-eating trees had me worried, and….

… this biker gang was intimidating.
“The Hand”, a memorial to 234 ferry passengers who perished in Greece’s worst maritime disaster in 1966, was also unsettling.

Then, I took these photos, which cheered me back up.

Trees, and the mountain range where Zeus was born, in the background.
A sailboat, passing through a gap in the ruins.

Same sailboat, different angle.

I am also pretty proud of this shot…

… Pigeon Toes.
I could get used to slow news days.
