Hi Russ – love your posts and stories, and such a pleasure to see Gervais’ photos.

As for sourcing paper maps, have you been to Map Town in Calgary? It’s inconveniently located downtown somewhere, so parking is a bully sport at best. But it’s so worth the aggravation! I always leave with more maps than I knew I needed.

I recall the Billings story from a previous post. Excellent description of that event, still elevates my heart rate to read it. And your statement “15 minutes isn’t very long, but seemed like an eternity that day” recalls a line from Gordon Lightfoot’s song “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” which goes Does anyone know / where the love of God goes / when the waves turn the minutes to hours

And, in my only-been-there-once memory, Billings does indeed have good cafes and shopping.

    Safe travels!

Thanks Holly. Yes “VOLTS” is a reprint. I wrote it 18 months ago, when we could only dream of travel. So glad we can experience the real thing again (not the airplane thunderstorm/diversion part), just the good stuff. Happy Landings!
