Bullies

We returned from vacation to the harsh realities of a Canadian winter.

The refrigerator in our attached garage solidified while we were gone. Several cans of carbonated orange drink exploded inside; a gooey semi-solid mixture covered the walls and shelves and pooled on the floor.

But the worst homecoming disaster happened when I pulled my head from the sand and turned on the TV. In the month we were gone, a great orange monster went rampaging through the streets of the world, randomly demolishing things in its path!

I quickly turned the TV off and lumbered out to the garage to clean up the other orange mess. As I was swabbing out the refrigerator, I thought about what I had just seen on TV…

I never had the misfortune of watching an episode of The Apprentice, but from what I have heard, the events playing out in America and around the world this month, seem to be nothing more than an extension of that one-hit wonder.  A messed-up, insecure man and his apprentices, making decisions and wielding power because they can.

What we are dealing with isn’t King Kong, it is an oversized pack of workplace bullies. Which wouldn’t be so bad, except that they have the nuclear codes.

Mopping up orange goo had a motivating effect. I decided, “once I scrape this mess up, maybe I should try to help fix the other one”

…But what can one Canadian do to overcome the bullies?

The car’s un-boostable battery has been replaced, and the fridge will recover, but cleaning up the global orange disaster will require a strategy. Here’s my plan; let me know what you think ….

We can unite.  It already happened while we were away.  I have never seen such an outpouring of patriotic support from Canadians, from all sides of the political landscape.

We can call on friends worldwide and rally mutual support. The patriotism we are witnessing at home is happening around the globe.  Let’s invite everyone to join us and offer them reciprocal backing.

Contact our allies in America. Millions of patriotic and passionate Americans don’t endorse the current regime.

But, most importantly, don’t show weakness. Stand up and fight.

Once the fridge was clean, I went to the grocery store and replenished it with Canadian products.

But, while I was boycotting America, it dawned on me that exclusion might not be the best strategy.

We should engage with the people who currently support the bullies.  It is not their fault; they firmly believe that the leaders of The Orange Reality Show have their best interests in mind. They are doing what they think is right in the circumstances.

In time, when the realization comes that the bullies’ only interest is self-enrichment, the support group will turn.  Let’s give The Base someplace to go.

The other half of the island residents will soon discover that they have been lied to. They will learn that the bullies don’t care about them and there will be a reckoning.

When that day comes, let’s be ready to meet in the centre of the political schoolyard.  United, we will kick the shit out of these…

…Bullies.

I think some Americans are starting to see the big orange man for what he is. Americans do not appreciate or tolerate things they don’t like (inflation!) for very long so I am guessing the voice of the people may soon start to turn against him and his fellow bullies. Fortunately, all it would take is a few Republican lawmakers to oppose him and they could gain back control of their country. BUT, and rightfully so, I think they are afraid of what he and his ‘friends’ can do to their lives, livelyhood and freedom should they oppose him. It’s pretty easy to imagine as they are seeing it happen to others daily. We too are doing our best to buy Canadian (or anywhere not USA, Russia) understanding that we need some of those American companies to keep our own employed. Canada also has a big decision to make in our next election as to who we want in charge of our own country.
