Johnny Cash and June Carter made this song popular; Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon took it to another level. You have probably heard a dozen other country duets cover Jackson, but you have never heard it like this.
Taylor, Riley’s partner (my “partner-in-law”), knows I enjoy music with an edge. While we were on holiday last week, he recommended I check out an artist named Orville Peck.
Before you watch this clip, I have to tell you, this rendition of Jackson by Orville and Trixie Mattel is the best I have ever heard, it is also waaaay out there.
I have nowhere to start describing these two artists. I will say that their pronouns are all over the map. My guess would be that they both stand up to pee, but I don’t know for sure, nor do I care. Their vocal range is, Wow! The duet’s timing is perfect, and their inter-personal chemistry is electric, but where this video clip of Jackson delivers the greatest impact is their stage presence. This is musical entertainment at its finest.
