Come With Me to the Casbah

Marrakech, Morocco

Come with me to the Casbah. The words suggest romance. They conjure an image of lovers running away to an exotic hiding place.

The full line, “Come with me to the Casbah, we will make beautiful music together,” is an amalgam of a line from the 1937 film Pepe’ le Moco, starring Charles Boyer and Hedy Lamarr, and lyrics from a song popular at the time, “We Could Make Such Beautiful Music Together,” by Wayne King and his Orchestra.

Pepe’ le Moco is a notorious jewel thief who takes refuge in a Moroccan fortress, or casbah, where he meets a beautiful French tourist.

Bear and I spent the evening wandering through the Marrakesh casbah.

Bear fits the image of Gaby, the sultry French tourist.  She hasn’t said whether I play the role of a dashing romantic or…

… a skunk.

We are on tour for the next two days, so I won’t have time to scribble. There will not be any posts on the WellWater site as I gather ammunition for the next batch.
